Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix Recap

An impressive overtake from current world champion Max Verstappen on the first lap started what went on to become a victory for the Red Bull driver out at Imola last weekend. Late on the brakes through the Tamburello chicane, Verstappen eased past Oscar Piastri and dashed McLaren’s and the Australian’s hopes of making it four wins in a row.

The race saw a safety car and a virtual safety car deployed, which came at the right time for some, but especially not Charles Leclerc, who had a frustrating time on track. His teammate Lewis Hamilton had a positive race, taking his Ferrari from 12th to finish fourth, which included an overtake on his teammate who finished sixth.

Alex Albon finished in fifth, with teammate Carlos Sainz in eighth. George Russell managed to secure some points for Mercedes after Kimi Antonelli was forced to retire with a mechanical issue on lap 46. Isak Hadjar and Yuki Tsunoda completed the top 10 on the day.

Monaco Grand Prix Qualifying Preview🇲🇨

Monaco is the tightest track on the calendar, where even the smallest mistake gets punished. Qualifying is one of the most crucial parts of the weekend, and having a competitive car is just as valuable.

It’s a race of fine margins, where every driver will brush the walls at least once, some harder than others. It is not a rare sight for a safety car or red flag during qualifying, with every driver going flat out. That is one of the most impressive sights in the sport, the cars carefully navigating through the barriers with drivers giving it everything to secure that crucial pole position.

Ones to Watch

McLaren

While McLaren still has the strongest car, the streets of Monaco are unpredictable and will surprise the team and the drivers. They are the team to watch, however, with both cars expected to qualify on the front row. After finishing second out in Imola, Lando Norris is one of the favourites heading into the weekend to secure pole.

Ferrari

An impressive race result last time out for Ferrari followed a particularly disappointing qualifying performance that saw both cars out in Q2 at the first of their home races. With Leclerc going in his home race and Lewis Hamilton finishing in fourth at Imola, we are predicting a raring and ready-to-go Ferrari team in qualifying this week.

Aston Martin

Following an impressive qualifying out in Imola, has Aston Martin made progress that they can carry into the Monaco Grand Prix? Fernando Alonso found his car qualifying in fifth, while teammate Lance Stroll qualified 8th, eyes will certainly be on them again out in Monaco to cause some potential qualifying upsets.

Winners so far this season:

  • Australian GP – Lando Norris
  • Chinese GP – Oscar Piastri
  • Japanese GP – Max Verstappen
  • Bahrain GP – Oscar Piastri
  • Saudi Arabia GP – Oscar Piastri
  • Miami GP – Oscar Piastri
  • Emilia Romagna GP – Max Verstappen
