Paris Saint-Germain v Arsenal: Line-ups, stats and preview
Preview for Paris Saint-Germain v Arsenal
Arsenal will have to produce a performance from the ages if they are to squeeze past Paris Saint-Germain and secure a place in the Champions League final.
PSG’s 1-0 triumph at the Emirates last week has put Luis Enrique’s side in the driving seat and it will require a monumental effort from the Gunners to win at the Parc des Princes and advance to a clash with either Inter Milan or Barcelona.
They will certainly have to perform an awful lot better than they did in losing to Bournemouth at the weekend – a result that has dragged them back into the scrap for a Champions League place next season.
Boss Mikel Arteta was unimpressed with his players’ efforts against the Cherries but challenged them to use it as fuel against PSG.
“What we have created now is a lot of rage, anger, frustration and a bad feeling in the tummy,” said Arteta. “So, make sure that we use that for Wednesday to have a massive performance in Paris, win the game and be in the final.”
One former Arsenal legend believes Arteta’s men can do it, by replicating their victory at Real Madrid in the quarter-finals. Patrick Vieira said: “Honestly, I strongly believe that they can come back.
“I’m 100 percent sure that the group of players and the manager know that they can come back, there’s no doubt about it. They will have to play the perfect game away from home. They did it before and they have a quality of players who can do it.”
If there is reason for optimism for Arsenal it is that PSG are not in sparkling form themselves.
The victory at the Emirates is their sole win in their last four games – albeit Luis Enrique fielded a near reserve side against Strasbourg at the weekend.

Prediction for Pris Saint-Germain v Arsenal
If previous PSG home games against English opposition this season are anything to go by, Arsenal could be in for a testing night.
Luis Enrique has got his team playing an aggressive style of attacking football which is very hard to stop when it gains momentum.
If PSG get on a roll we can’t see any other outcome than a home win and a place in the final for PSG.
Arsenal’s best hope is to score early and spark an element of panic in the home ranks which may see them pour forward and leave space at the back for the likes of Bukayo Saka to exploit.
It remains a long shot, though, and we can’t see past PSG.
Prediction: PSG 3-1 Arsenal
