Real Madrid v Real Sociedad: Line-ups, stats and preview
Preview for Real Madrid v Real Sociedad
Real Madrid’s home game with Real Sociedad will be an emotional affair as the Santiago Bernabeu faithful prepare to say goodbye to two of their favourite sons.
Carlo Ancelotti and Luka Modric will take part in their final game in the capital before moving on to pastures new.
For Ancelotti, that is the Brazil national team job, with the Italian taking over the Selecao for their June internationals as they continue to build up towards next summer’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Ancelotti has enjoyed glorious success over two spells in the Madrid hot-seat and leaves with a trophy haul that includes three Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns.
Madrid president Florentino Perez said today: “Carlo Ancelotti will forever be part of the great Madridista family. We feel incredibly honoured to have had the chance to enjoy a coach who has helped us achieve so much success, but who has also embodied our club’s values in such exemplary fashion.”
Modric’s record is even more impressive with four La Liga titles and six Champions League winners’ medals.
The Croatia midfielder will play for Madrid at the Club World Cup this summer with his plans after that not yet disclosed.
It is expected he will play tomorrow as Madrid attempt to end a disappointing season on a high.
Los Blancos have lost all four Clasicos with Barcelona, including one in the Copa del Rey final, and finished second to their great rivals in La Liga.
The defence of their Champions League crown was ended by Arsenal at the quarter-final stage.
Sociedad have also underwhelmed this year.
The San Sebastián side will finish in mid-table, and outside the European spots, ahead of what is expected to be a summer of change.
Coach Imanol Alguacil is leaving while it is likely star midfielder Martin Zubimendi will follow with Madrid one of the teams linked with the Spain international.
